Since 2004 we’ve run our self-catering cottages, Twistgates Farm Cottages. They, along with the beautiful location of the Blackdown Hills in East Devon where we live, are our passions.

We know that it’s the little things that make the difference between a good holiday and an excellent one. Our website will provide inspiration and answers to many questions. However, an OTA cannot possibly match the detailed knowledge, and enthusiasm, for our cottages and local countryside that we have.
Over the years we’ve been asked some very varied questions that an OTA would struggle to answer.
For example, how many
stairs are there in one cottage versus another? Is a vegetable peeler provided ? Does the village pub have an open fire? Would any other visitors have dogs with them? Are fireworks likely to be let off nearby? Would it disturb other guests if they played their bagpipes? The answer to the last question was No, It was a very quiet time of year and the player was rather good!
If the match between our accommodations and your requirements doesn’t add up, we’ll point you in the direction of another independent holiday provider who may be able to help.
