Days Out From Twistgates

Use Twistgates Farm as your base and you have the whole of Devon and the South West on your doorstep. Many delightful attractions and days out easily accessible. To get a feel for what is going on right now, and to see the latest photos, check out our FACEBOOK page, INSTAGRAM account and read our BLOGS.

Plenty of good walks from your front door including circular walks to the closest villages of Upottery and Churchinford (with a shop and 2 pubs between them), or take a gentle wander along quiet lanes to the river to watch the bird life. Alternatively, boot up for a hike in the Blackdown Hills (AONB), East Devon Way or the South West Coast Path. Exmoor and Dartmoor are accessible too.

It’s an easy drive to beaches along the Jurassic Coast including Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, as well as Lyme Regis and Charmouth (excellent fossil hunting) and the picturesque fishing village of Beer.

Our nearest towns are Honiton, Wellington, Taunton and the cathedral city of Exeter (with its historic Quayside, Underground Passages and RAMM museum). Excellent choices for restaurants and cafes, shops and things to do.

Many National Trust properties within a short drive from Twistgates Farm, as well as the beautiful gardens at Burrow Farm and Forde Abbey. Local history with iron age forts, ancient forests and D Day connections.

We are spoilt for choice for locally produced food – Award winning ice cream, artisan breads, fresh-from-the-sea fish, meats, cheeses, beers, ciders and wines. Nearby eateries to suit all moods and pockets from the country chic surroundings of the Pig at Coombe to the relaxed style of the Candlelight Inn at Bishopswood, and plenty in-between!

Attractions that appeal to children, and approximately 30 mins drive from Twistgates Farm, include Seaton Jurassic, Wildwood Escot, The Bear Trail, The Donkey Sanctuary and, at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, holiday activities and workshops.

Look at our Facebook page and follow our Blog (linked above and below) to find out more about annual events and festivals taking place in the area. Our favourites include the Honiton Agricultural Show, Blackdown Hills Beer and Music Festival, Sidmouth Folk Festival and the Devon County Show.
